Why are women forced to pursue perfection? Why has “feminist” become an ugly word? Why aren’t there more black professors? How can anyone stand the lousy writing in Fifty Shades of Gray?
Join the conversation of bright, progressive women as we tackle a whole host of issues in this month’s book, Bad Feminist, a series of essays by Roxane Gay. Gay is a bold, powerful woman of color who isn’t afraid to crack open any issue and examine it with wit, intimacy and humor.
We are Reader’s Resist, a Planned Parenthood Book Club that is organized by volunteers in east Michigan. Any and all are welcome. You don’t have to a woman. You don’t have to come every time. You don’t even have to read the book (although that would be ideal). We just want to meet with other interesting people and dive into conversation around the social issues shaping our lives.
Let us know if you can make it.
